E-Prime Go 1.0
Detail
E-Prime Go attempts to upload the participant's Session data to the E-Prime Go website when the participant completes an experiment that was packed in Automated mode. However, in some cases the data cannot be uploaded after the participant completes the task. To address these cases, two Retry Data Upload features have been added to E-Prime Go 1.0 (1.0.3.61). These features alert participants when a data upload failure occurs and prompts them to retry uploading the data.
NOTE: The most common reason for data upload failure is loss of an internet connection. Be sure to remind participants who are running experiments packed in Automated mode that an internet connection is required.
Retry Data Upload immediately after an upload failure
If the initial data upload process fails, participants see a prompt similar to what is shown below (the specific error code shown will vary depending on the cause of the data upload failure). Participants are prompted to either retry the data upload or cancel the operation.
If the cause of the data upload failure has been corrected, such as when a temporary loss in the internet connection is restored, then the retry operation will succeed. After the data is successfully uploaded, then participants will see the Stop Instructions that were specified when the experiment was packed in the E-Prime Go application.
If the cause of the data upload failure has not been corrected, then the retry operation will not succeed. The Failure Instructions from the E-Prime Go application appear along with information about the cause of the data upload failure. For example, if there is no internet connection then the following message appears:
If the data upload is not successful after the participant completes the experiment, participants should contact their Study Coordinator for further instructions. After the E-Prime Go application has closed on the participant's computer, they will have another opportunity to upload their Session data after re-launching the Task-XXXXXXXX.exe. This second opportunity is discussed in the next section.
Retry data upload after re-launching the task.exe
The "Incomplete Task Found" dialog shown below is presented whenever a task is launched and the Experiment Unpacker application detects Session data on a participant's machine that has not been uploaded to the E-Prime Go server. Two options are presented: Continue and Start Over. Participants should click the Continue button to direct E-Prime Go to continue working with the data from the previously completed task and retry the Session data upload. Participants should click the Start Over button to delete the existing Session data. Participants should only select Start Over when directed by the Study Coordinator.
If the participant selects Continue then the E-Prime Go Unpacker application will retry the Session data upload that had failed previously. Any unsubmitted data is detected by the E-Prime Go application, regardless of whether the participant launched a different task or the same task that has unsubmitted data. If the participant launched a task at the Study Coordinator's instruction to retry the data upload and the data upload is successful, then the participant can close out of the Unpacker application. If the data upload is successful but the participant wants to run the task that was unpacked then they can continue. Participants should only rerun a previously run task if instructed to do so by the Study Coordinator. The Experiment Unpacker application will not block a participant from rerunning a task.
If the participant selects Start Over, then the Session data is removed from their machine. Subsequent attempts to launch the task.exe will not result in the "Incomplete Task Found" dialog. Instead, the Unpacker application will download and launch the experiment.
NOTE: The Experiment Status on the E-Prime Go website it set to "Quit" if the participant selects the Start Over option. If the participant completes a new Session and their data is successfully uploaded, then their data will appear as a new Submission. Refer to INFO: Experiment status on the E-Prime Go website [36990] for more information.
