This article applies to:
E-Prime Go 1.0
This bug was first reported in E-Prime Go 1.0 (1.0.1.44).
This bug has been corrected in E-Prime Go 1.0 (1.0.3.61).
Symptoms
Text that suggests what to enter in the Start Instructions, Stop Instructions, and Failure Text fields is present when running an experiment even though the researcher did not specify the text.
Detail
The E-Prime Go interface shows gray suggested text for multiple explanatory fields. When the fields are clicked in, the suggested text goes away and researchers can enter in their own text. However, if these fields were left untouched, then the suggested text was used when packing that indicate to "Insert text...":
Since that text is a suggestion to the researcher during packing, some participants were confused by the suggestion to "Insert text" when it was shown during runtime.
Solution
Upgrade to E-Prime Go 1.0 (1.0.3.61) or later.
In the updated version of E-Prime Go, the suggested text no longer is included in the packed file when the fields are not edited. New text is shown that makes sense to the participants.
NOTE: To remove the suggested text from one of the four entries and eliminate the information, edit the field to contain a blank space. No text will be presented for any E-Prime Go Packer application field that is blank.
Workaround
These workarounds are intended only for those users who are unable to update to the E-Prime Go version that contains the bug fix.
Use one of the workarounds below to avoid this issue:
- replace the suggested helper text in each entry field with experiment-specific instructions
- replace the suggested helper text in each entry field with a blank space (" ")
