BUG FIX: Automated data upload results in 404 error [37394]

This bug was first reported in E-Prime Go 1.0.2.41.

This bug has been corrected in E-Prime Go 1.0 (1.0.3.61).

Symptoms

After running an E-Prime Go experiment packed in Automated mode, a 404 error occurs when the data is uploaded.

Detail

This error message occurs using Automated Mode when the Data File Name is greater than 72 characters.

For example, assume an E-Prime Go Experiment name is 70 characters long and uses the default data file name of [Experiment]-[Subject]-[Session]. When the participant completes the experiment, the data file is not uploaded to the E-Prime Go website and instead the following error appears:

NOTE: The number of characters in the "-[Subject]-[Session]" are included in the length of the data file. For example, using the default data file name format and specifying 1 for the Subject and Session numbers adds 4 characters to the filename (i.e., -1-1). An experiment name with 70 characters will produce a data file name with 74 characters.

Solution

Upgrade to E-Prime Go 1.0 (1.0.3.61) or later.

NOTE: E-Prime has a separate character limit for the .edat3 file of 80 characters. If the Submission History on the E-Prime Go website changes from Uploading Data to Canceled, as shown below, check if the data file name exceeds 80 characters. If so, then reduce the length of the experiment name.  

Workaround

These workarounds are intended only for those users who are unable to update to the E-Prime Go version that contains the bug fix.

The following workarounds are possible:

Workaround 1:

Do a File > Save As and save your experiment with a name of 53 characters or less. 53 characters is recommended due to the Subject being able to accept a value up to 2147483647 (10 characters) and a Session value up to 32767 (5 characters).

NOTE: If you include other Attributes or text in your Data File Name, be sure to account for them.

Workaround 2:

Modify the Data File Name in the Experiment Object Property Pages > Data File tab to be less than 72 characters. Make sure to account for any Attribute character lengths that may be possible.
