This article applies to:
E-Prime 3.0
This has been introduced in E-Prime 3.0 Update 3 (3.0.3.214).
Detail
Cloud Licenses in E-Prime require an internet connection so PST can validate the license while using E-Studio. However, the Cloud License may be detached for use when no internet is available (i.e., does not need an internet connection for a specified period of time).
Cloud Licenses may be detached for a maximum of 14 days. An internet connection is required to detach a license. Users can cancel the detach operation if an internet connection is obtained while the license is detached.
Detaching a Cloud License can occur in the About Box in the E-Studio application. This article discusses how to detach and cancel the detach of a Cloud License.
NOTE: E-Prime 3.0 Update 3 requires HASP Driver version 8.31 or later.
NOTE: Detach operations can be disabled in the PST License Portal by locating the Identity that should not be detached and unchecking the "Detachable" checkbox. See LICENSE: The PST License Portal [39800] for more information.
NOTE: Detach in localhost:1947 is not supported currently and may result in a Cloud License being abandoned for a period of time.
Detach in E-Studio
Detach operations in E-Studio can be found in About Box. To access the About Box, either click the About button on the Toolbar or navigate to the Help Menu and click About E-Studio. Once in the About Box, click the Detach button to access the detach operations.
The License Detach dialog appears when the Detach button is clicked and an active Cloud License is detected on the system. One option is present in the dialog: a dropdown for the number of days to detach the Cloud License. Options range from 1 to 14 days with 2 days being the default.
Detach operation can be confirmed once a user has selected the number of days of the detach. A notification appears if the operation is successful.
Two requirements must be met before a successful detach operation can occur:
- No other instances of E-Studio may be opened. If multiple instances of E-Studio are opened, then all but one of them must be closed.
- An unsaved experiment may not be opened in E-Studio. Please save and close E-Studio if an experiment is opened. Then, reopen a new instance of E-Studio that does not have an experiment loaded.
If access to an internet connection occurs before the detached days are finished, then the detach operation may be canceled. This can be completed by navigating back to the Detach dialog. A prompt asks if the detach operation should be canceled.
To cancel the detach, click the OK button. A notification appears if the operation is successful.
NOTE: USB License Keys are not able to be detached. An error occurs if a detach operation is performed while the machine is licensed with a USB key.
