E-Prime 3.0
E-Prime 2.0
Detail
E-Prime 2.0 and E-Prime 3.0 are compatible with the Windows 10 Operating System. However, the hardware requirements for collecting data with millisecond accuracy on E-Prime 2.0 or E-Prime 3.0 are slightly different in Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) than Windows 7 or earlier. Running E-Prime 2.0 on Windows 10 requires a specific minor version of 2.0 (2.0.10.356) to be installed. All versions of E-Prime 3.0 are supported with Windows 10.
Running on Windows 7 or earlier requires a video card capable of running DirectX version 7 or later with its latest display adapter installed. Running on Windows 10 (or Windows 8) minimally requires a video card capable of running DirectX version 11 or later with its latest display adapter installed. Also, it must meet the additional requirements for DirectX 11 Hardware Acceleration (TIMING: E-Prime requires specific DirectX 11 settings for accurate timing [19550]).
NOTE: 1) The listings for the DirectX 11 Hardware Acceleration requirements are based on the monitors you currently have connected. If you have a multi-monitor setup, multiple Display tabs exist in DXDiag. 2) Your machine may also have multiple video cards to check. 3) If the System tab shows a DirectX version 11 or greater but the Display tab suggests the connected video card's display adapter does not meet the requirements for DirectX 11 Hardware Acceleration, you should navigate to the hardware manufacturer's website to obtain the latest drivers. If you are unable to do so, navigate to the display adapter listing(s) in your Windows Device Manager program. Then, try to update the relevant drivers. 4) Bringing an experiment originally authored on Windows 7 or earlier onto Windows 10 (or Windows 8) prompts two required changes to your experiment's Display device settings related to DirectX 11 Hardware Acceleration compatibility (AV: Windows 8 or DirectX 11 or greater detected (Formerly KB 19543 & 5577) [23888]).
All minor versions of E-Prime 3.0 are compatible with Windows 10. Only the latest minor version of E-Prime 2.0, 2.0.10.356 (also known as Service Pack 2 or SP2) is supported for collecting data with millisecond accuracy on Windows 10, see RELEASE INFO: Should I Update to E-Prime 2.0 SP2 (2.0.10.356)? [19582].
NOTE: Running an unsupported version of E-Studio or E-Run on a Windows 8 or 10 results in inaccurate timing and data.
Please note the following for certain Windows 10 versions:
- Windows 10 version 1703 - If you are running E-Prime 2.0 or E-Prime 3.0 (3.0.3.31), please view ERROR: "Unable to obtain a valid refresh rate" error occurs when attempting to run E-Prime under Windows 10 Creators Update [25857]. If you are not able to change your Windows 10 version and/or update your minor version if running E-Prime 3.0, then follow the workaround inERROR: Windows 10 Creators Update interrupts E-Prime’s ability to detect refresh rate [25326].
- Windows 10 versions 1903 or 1909 - For both E-Prime 2.0 and 3.0, please view ERROR: Experiments run on Windows 10 (1903 & 1909) freeze or receive a display is too busy error (Error 11102) [30679].
You can determine what Windows 10 version you are running by searching for the winver Run command in your Windows Start Menu search. For example, the About Windows box for a Windows 10 machine running version 1809 looks like:
