Detail
The following tables list the Operating System (i.e., Windows 11, Windows 10, etc.), the version of E-Prime (i.e., 3.0.3.214, 2.0.10.356, etc.), and information on Display, Response, Sound, and Port/SRBox support.
- Supported- indicates that the version of E-Prime has been tested and is supported on the Operating System.
- Not Supported- indicates that the version of E-Prime has not been tested and is not supported on the Operating System.
- Not Tested- indicates that E-Prime has not been tested on the Operating System, but may be supported (we recommend using these configurations at your own risk as issues may arise due to Psychology Software Tools not testing these configurations).
- Other values (e.g., DirectX 11 adapter required) - refer to the bottom of this article for more information.
NOTE: While tests may have passed on older operating systems, PST recommends running on a valid supported version of Windows unless the machine is run offline or on a closed network.

¹ Default HD Audio Driver recommended with CoreAudio API for on board sound. External sound cards are not needed.
² Add-on PCI or PCIe sound card recommended with manufacturer supplied driver and CoreAudio API. Driver may be downloaded through Windows Update or the manufacturer's website.
³ DirectX 11 video adapter, Flipping Enabled=Yes, Color Depth = 32 required for Windows 8/8.1/10/11 support with E-Prime 2.0 SP1 and newer.
⁴ Default HD Audio Driver recommended with ASIO API for on board sound. External sound cards are not needed.
⁵ Chronos provides the lowest latency on WIndows 7/8/8.1/10/11. It was not tested/designed for any other operating systems. If a later operating system is released, we will perform additional timing tests. If Chronos is not available, please use the other APIs listed.
E-Prime 2.0 sound timing tests (not using Chronos) have found that the operating system default HD Audio driver with CoreAudio API chosen for Sound Device offer the best timing and compatibility for Windows 7/8/8.1/10.
E-Prime 3.0 sound timing tests (not using Chronos) have found that the operating system default HD Audio driver with CoreAudio API chosen for Sound Device offer the best timing and compatibility for Windows 7/8/8.1/10.
Use of ASIO is also supported on Windows 7 but requires verification with external timing equipment to determine timing. ASIO is supported on Windows 10/11 but requires verification with external timing equipment to determine timing. DirectSound is not recommend for use of paradigms that require < 30ms latency values.

The web site says that the Serial Response Box is supported for Windows XP Service Pack 3, but when installing the Serial Response Box driver with E-Prime 2.0 a warning message appears saying "PST Serial Response Box" has not passed Windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with XP, and then notes how I could experience problems with my system if I proceed with the installation. So is it verified or not? |

The SRBOX driver was not sent to or given approval from Microsoft Hardware Quality Labs which is why the "continue anyway" dialog appears. The SRBOX driver that is included with E-Prime 1.x and E-Prime 2.0 was created in 2002 and in that decade since being created has not had end user (5000+ boxes) concern to require an update. |
