E-Prime 3.0
This bug has been fixed in E-Prime 3.0.3.214 (Update 3).
Symptoms
Users may notice that E-Prime Check for Updates notifications are not occurring.
System Admins may notice the error below in Event Viewer.
Detail
If E-Prime Check for Updates notifications are not appearing, an older Microsoft Redistributable may need to be installed on your machine. This can be verified by checking the Event Viewer application. The following error notification appears for E-Studio:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\PST\E-Prime 3.0\Program\MachineInfo.dll". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
Solution
Update to E-Prime 3.0 Update 3 (3.0.3.214).
E-Prime Updates are now shown in the E-Studio Workspace. Users who wish to update should follow the Update link in the Workspace when present.
Workaround
This workaround is intended only for those who are unable to update to the version of E-Prime that contains the bug fix:
Install the VS 2005 SP1 Redistributable to resolve the issue. This can be downloaded from Microsoft at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347 (select vcredist_x86.EXE)
The VS 2005 SP1 Redistributable is installed with E-Prime 2.0 (2.0.10.356).
