Detail
If you plan on upgrading experiments from either EET 2.x or EET 3.0 to EET 3.1, please note the following:
UPGRADING FROM EET 2.0 OR EET 3.0:
- Any Tobii Pro-enabled experiment which creates a .gazedata file needs to be updated before it can be run under EET 3.1. Some of the TobiiEyeTrackerResponseData object's properties have changed in EET 3.1: properties have been added, removed, and renamed. These properties are identified in UserScript and then exported to the .gazedata file on the InLine object (usually named SaveGazeData) that is typically placed at the end of the Trial Procedure. Examples of the script that is needed to create a .gazedata file are provided in text files that are installed in the EET 3.1 Samples and Tutorials folders. To update a previously created Tobii Pro-enabled experiment, delete the contents of the UserScript and InLine objects and replace them with the example script that is provided with the EET 3.1 installation. For more information on this process, please review Tutorial 2 in the Tobii Pro User Manual (included in the EET 3.1 installation).
- Any customizations of the User Script or SaveGazeData InLine need to be re-entered after updating to the EET 3.1 versions of the UserScript and SaveGazeData InLine as described in the bullet point above. (The example E-Basic script that is provided with the EET system is intended as a starting point only; many users customize this script to fit their specific experimental needs.)
- The Tobii Eye Tracker device properties have changed for EET 3.1, as illustrated in the image below. At a minimum, you should review the new properties and their settings. With the exception of Max Count, any values that were changed from their defaults will not be maintained when upgraded. Further, some values that were used in a prior version may no longer be appropriate. For example, if running on a network with multiple eye trackers connected, then you may want to explicitly set your eye tracker model rather than use the "(unspecified)" value.
UPGRADING FROM EET 2.0:
- Once you bring an experiment forward from EET 2.0 to 3.1, it cannot go back to the previous version. No backup file is created by EET 3.1. Only upgrade the experiment if you know you do not need it again in EET 2.0.
UPGRADING FROM EET 3.0:
- Once you bring experiment forward from EET 3.0 to 3.1, it cannot go back to the previous version. However, EET 3.1 makes a backup of the EET 3.0 file before overwriting the original contents of the EET 3.0 file. The backup file is created when the upgraded experiment is saved for the first time. The backup file resides in the same location as the original experiment. The naming format is "<original> EET Backup.xxx" where "<original>" is the name of the .es3 file and "xxx" is an incrementing number (if there is an existing file with the same name). Refer to INFO: Using Backup files in EET 3.1 [27069] for more information on backup files.
NOTE: EET 3.0 cannot be installed side by side with 3.1. EET 2.0 can be installed side by side with EET 3.0 or EET 3.1.
