This article applies to:
E-Prime 3.0
E-Prime 2.0
This item was introduced in E-Prime 2.0 (2.0.1.54).
Detail
E-Prime allows for the following image formats:
- .bmp
- .jpg
- .jpeg
- .gif
- .png
- .tif
- .tiff
- .emf
- .wmf
NOTE: Animated .gif files are not supported.
Compressed image formats require additional CPU time to expand. Therefore, additional PreRelease needs to be factored for paradigms to avoid OnsetDelay values. In general, using a .jpg is approximately six times slower than a .bmp version of the same image.
The following table shows the time in milliseconds required to load a 1280x835 photo of a person surf boarding (see thumbnail).
Machine | BMP | JPG |
Dell 1.8 GHZ Desktop | 21 | 137 |
HP 3.0 GHZ Laptop | 12 | 66 |
Tyan Dual XEON 2.8 GHZ Desktop | 14 | 79 |
Dell 3.0 GHZ Desktop | 11 | 71 |
NOTE: The results are from Windows XP and E-Prime 2.0 BETA.
More detailed images require additional processing time. Less detailed and smaller images require less time. Take into account that compressed image files require more CPU time and therefore more PreRelease.
