What is an E-Prime version?
A version of E-Prime is a publicly available build of the system that contains any combination of new features, extended functionality of existing features, enhanced documentation, and bug fixes. An E-Prime version is identified by its full version number and optionally by a version name. E-Prime version numbers are in the format of a series of 4 numbers separated by the "." character, (e.g., E-Prime 3.0.3.60). For example, E-Prime 3.0.3.9 and E-Prime 3.0.3.60 are not considered to be the same version because the last number is different.
The first two numbers are referred to as the major and minor version number. When appropriate, we only refer to the major and minor version numbers; in such cases, any reference to the major.minor values covers all versions that share the same major.minor version number. For example, all of the E-Prime versions with a major.minor values less than 3.0 do not contain SlideButtons.
What version of E-Prime am I using?
To determine which version of E-Prime is used, check the About E-Studio box or review the Program information from the Control Panel (See RELEASE INFO: How to determine E-Prime version number [17909]).
How do I know when a new version of E-Prime is available?
New versions of E-Prime, both updates and upgrades, are announced in PST's newsletter. All registered users receive the newsletter via email. Also, new version announcements are included in the Downloads area of the user support site. If you have not registered your system, you may do so at any time from the support site (INFO: How to Register for Support and Access Downloads [27523]).
What is an update to E-Prime?
An update is any new version which shares the same major number as the version number of your original purchase. Updates typically contain a limited number of new features and/or bug fixes. For example, E-Prime 3.0 (3.0.3.80) is an update for someone who purchased E-Prime 3.0 (3.0.3.31). Both versions have the same major version number (3) making this an update rather than an upgrade.
What is an upgrade to E-Prime?
An upgrade is any new version which has a higher major number as the version number of your original purchase. An upgrade typically contains a significant number of new features, enhanced functionality, and bug fixes. For example, E-Prime 3.0 (3.0.3.80) is an upgrade for someone who purchased E-Prime 2.0 (2.0.10.356).
What does it cost to update or upgrade?
Updates to an existing system are included as a part of the web support plan for your product. If your web support has expired, a renewal may be purchased during that product's life cycle. Upgrades to an existing system must be purchased (sales@pstnet.com).
Will I need to purchase a new key if I update or upgrade?
Updates to an existing E-Prime license do not require the purchase of a new license key because updates are improvements to the current version of E-Prime.
To Upgrade an E-Prime license, please contact sales@pstnet.com or visit the PST Online Store.
How can I get an update of my E-Prime system?
Downloads are available for users who have registered their system. First, log into the support web site. Next, click on the "Click Here to Show Downloads" option from under Downloads. Click on the latest update to your E-Prime version.
Additionally, updates can be obtained if E-Prime AutoUpdate is enabled. Please view GETTING STARTED: E-Prime Check for Updates [27785] and INFO: Information sent when E-Prime Check for Updates queries for new versions of E-Prime [17835] for further information on E-Prime AutoUpdate.
