The Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT) is a sustained-attention, reaction-timed task that measures the speed that a participant responds to a visual stimulus.
Abstract
In the task, participants are instructed to respond whenever a red dot appears on the screen. The red dot is randomly presented after 2000-10000 ms. The trials repeat for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the task ends.
Data is logged on the number of trials where a lapse in attention occurred. A "lapse" is defined in the experiment as a trial in which the participant responded in over 500 ms.
NOTE: This task is enabled for use with Chronos. However, this can be altered by removing the Chronos device and adding a new device (e.g., Keyboard) for the E-Objects that require input.
NOTE: To run the experiment, ensure that the resources (i.e., dot.png) is at the same level as the .es3 file.
