The Cyberball task is a virtual ball toss that tests ostracism, social exclusion, rejection, bullying, discrimination, etc..
Abstract
A modified version of the task originally created by Kip Williams. This task has users select from a list of pre-loaded, computer-generated confederates to load them into the task. Then, the participant inputs his or her name and begins the task. It starts with 5 "inclusion" trials where the participant receives the ball and is able to throw it equally with the rest of the group. It then moves on to the "exclusion" task for 100 trials where participants receive the ball in 1 : 30 ratio.
Watch the following video to see how this task was made: Cyberball.
