The Implicit Association Task (IAT) is a social psychology measure which detects a participant's subconscious association between mental representations of objects (concepts) in memory.
Abstract
This IAT uses categories relating to up/sky and down/ground. The participant's goal is to specify which category a stimulus belongs to as quickly as possible. The stimuli can be presented as either a word or image. The word-based segment of the task involve categorizing the word stimuli as being either up or down while the image-based segment involve categorizing the image stimuli as either clouds or ground. The stimuli switch "response sides" in the middle of the task. Responses are made using the keyboard.
