E-Prime Extensions for EyeLink 3.0
Detail
EyeLink's analysis software application Data Viewer can auto segment interest areas for strings of text. This is done by clicking the “Auto Segment Image to Interest Area” button in Data Viewer. This feature is especially useful when analyzing reading studies. Instead of manually creating interest areas for every sentence, this button parses through all the breaks between words and creates individual interest areas.
The attached experiment is a simplified reading study in which participants are asked to read a sentence in its entirety. Gaze data is collected during every trial which shows information about what the participant read when analyzed in Data Viewer. The .edf from this study does not automatically contain interest areas for every word shown during a trial. Users wanting interest areas for every word should use the Auto Segment button.
For more information on how auto segmentation works, please consult your SR Research documentation.
NOTE: The attached sample only shows single lines being presented in E-Studio. However, Data Viewer is capable of parsing through multiple lines of text as well to make interest areas.
