Rich Rarey 5/23/2012 15:02 | In upgrading an experiment from v2.0.8.22, my experiment failed with error on the first time it tried to play an audio file. In diagnosing the problem, the CodecConfig app in version 2.0.10.182 would also fail, without explanation and without writing an entry to the Windows Event Log. The workaround was to install the free K-Lite codec suite, which automagically restored the ability to play the linear uncompressed WAV files, without needing to set up the CodecConfig. The CodecConfig showed the defaults for WAV file playback to be "File Source (Async)". |
Brandon Cernicky 9/10/2012 16:24 | E-Prime 2.0.10.242 (production release) should not exhibit any crashing behavior. Prior editions may require .NET 3.5 SP1 or later to be installed. |
Roger Ellingson 4/24/2014 23:29 | It's been awhile since I developed in Eprime. I had to port desktop es2 project to laptop windows 7 x64 pro. Had a dickens of a time with sounds as above. Codec config tool would either flash or crash. Installed all the pre-install packages, installed the latest Eprime 2.0.10.353. Still no codec config tool was operable. The sound tester worked and saved the xml outputs. Finally I did as above and install the K-lite package. Now I can play sounds from an experiment. I do not know enough about codecs to complain too much, but it took me about 4 hours to get simple sounds working! |
