Detail
The following steps can be used to reduce OnsetDelay values:
- Reduce the frame size of objects if you do not require the use of the full screen. See INFO: Default frame size lowered to 75% [17951].
- If not using the default resolution, reduce the resolution of the screen if a larger resolution is not required. The Display Device in E-Studio defaults to 1024x768 and 32-bit in E-Prime 3.0 (these values are different in previous versions), which are typically supported by most video adapters. The Display Device properties can be changed in the experiment by navigating to the Experiment Object > Devices tab > Display Device > Edit. Change the resolution and bit depth properties to values supported by the machine's video adapter.
- Use duration values that are divisible by the refresh rate. See INFO: Listing of Experiment Advisor Modules [19137]; "Duration not divisible by refresh rate" listing.
- Use RefreshAlignment. When using RefreshAlignment, the OnsetDelay may be negative. This should be considered an acceptable value for OnsetDelay. See TIMING: RefreshAlignment locks into nearest refresh vertical blank to promote timing accuracy [18035].
- Use PreRelease. See TIMING: Using PreRelease to Maintain Millisecond Timing [17760].
- Set GeneratePreRun to TopOfProcedure. See TIMING: Timing of E-Objects [22852].
NOTE: E-Prime 3.0 uses BeforeObjectRun as the default value for GeneratePreRun.
