The Oddball Task studies effects of stimulus novelty and significance on information processing.
Abstract
In this auditory Oddball task, Participants hear an animal sound in either the right or left channel. The participant needs to respond to what animal sound was just played. On standard trials, the animal sound dominantly plays out of one channel (e.g. dog from right, cat from left channel). This occurs 80% of the time. On 'strategy-change' trials, the sound occurs in the opposite channel. This occurs 20% of the time.
NOTE: Versions of this experiment with Keyboard and Chronos input are attached.
