Experiment Description
This is an example of a visual staircase procedure. In this test two vertical lines of different length are draw, very briefly. The shorter line is masked after a variable delay by making both lines equal in length. Participants are instructed to choose the longest. The masking delay is increased or decreased in steps of 50 milliseconds by applying a staircase procedure. Contributed by Paul Groot of the Free University of Amsterdam.  

Experiment Instructions

In this experiment a shape appears on screen for each trial. Two vertical lines extend down from a horizontal line. The length of the vertical lines may vary from trial to trial. If the left vertical line is longer than the right, press "z". If the right line is longer than the left, press "m". InLine script objects change the duration of the stimulus. The stimulus duration increases with consecutive incorrect responses. The stimulus duration decreases with consecutive correct answers. This experiment has 96 trials.
