Detail
Earlier versions of E-Prime 2.0 provided some ability to terminate an experiment early. The Ctrl+Alt+Shift key sequence provides the ability to abort an experiment, but it does not close out devices and it also fails to create a data file for the session. This results in the need to run the E-Recovery utility in order to recover session data. An alternative method is the Ctrl+Shift key sequence, which provides a method in E-Basic to escape out of an experiment. When it is used in conjunction with advanced E-Basic scripting techniques, the experiment can be safely exited and a data file can be created.
E-Prime 2.0 Professional introduced the use of the Ctrl+Alt+Backspace key sequence to invoke a Conditional Exit. When invoked, the currently running object exits. Then, any additional objects immediately are skipped and the List objects stop sampling. A Conditional Exit continues to load E-Objects. Packages and InLine script need to be modified to skip functionality. If a User aborts using the conditional exit, an .edat3 will be produced from the test session.
