A checkbox exists in E-Studio to enable automatic generation of a tab-delimited version of the .edat3 file to allow export of trial level data into a 3rd party application (e.g., SPSS). While the Export feature in E-DataAid allows conversion of an E-Prime data file to tab-delimited text format, this option provides the file automatically, saving the user the process of loading the file in E-DataAid and invoking the Export procedure.
To access this feature, open the Experiment Object property pages and select the Data File tab.
By default, the checkbox next to "Create a tab-delimited copy of the data file" is unchecked (i.e., the tab-delimited copy of the data file is not created by default). To automatically generate a tab-delimited copy of the data file (i.e., in addition to the E-Prime data file that may be opened in E-DataAid), click the checkbox to select this option. The tab-delimited text file, which will append "-Export.txt" to the Data File Name, will be created automatically at runtime, and placed in the same location as the E-Prime data file (.edat3) file.
The tab-delimited .txt file contains all rows and columns of data that would be shown displayed when opening the .edat3 file in E-DataAid. If a Column Definition File is specified, the columns of data will be restricted as defined by that file (see E-DATAAID: Saving/Loading Column Arrangement (.cd3) [23602]).
This feature requires a full license of E-Prime 3.0. Automatic exports are not available with Evaluation or Runtime licenses.
