This bug has been fixed in E-Prime 1.2.

Symptoms
After renaming an object, an error message such as "Name already exists" or "Contains invalid character" is displayed. Dismissing the message then displays the same message and repeats forever. The experiment becomes inaccessible and in some cases causes the machine to crash.

Solution

Update to E-Prime 1.2 or later.
