E-Prime 3.0
E-Prime 2.0
Detail
E-Prime introduces three installation options and licenses to assist with designing experiments and running them in a shared lab and in other departments/sites.
When the E-Prime installation is started, you can choose to install the suite (full design/runtime) or the Subject Station (runtime only). The E-Prime Run-Time license can be purchased for labs that need to collaborate with sites that do not have a full E-Prime license.
Only one E-Prime full system (design with E-Studio) can exist on a machine at a time. One version of E-Prime 1.x, E-Prime 2.0, and E-Prime 3.0 can coexist. In scenarios where a lab is shared between departments (e.g., where one lab may require an older version for continuing study and another department wants to take advantage of new features) multiple versions of E-Prime Subject Station can coexist on the same lab machine.
A real world use case
Dept 1 and Dept 2 share a lab.
Dept 1 is in the middle of a continuing study and requires E-Prime 3.0.3.31.
Dept 2 is starting a new study and want to use features available in E-Prime 3.0.3.80.
On the machines in the lab, E-Prime 3.0 Subject Station 3.0.3.31 can be installed on the same machines as full E-Prime 3.0.3.80.
This allows the lab to run older .ebs3 files in 3.0.3.31 and run/design newer experiments .es3/.ebs3 in 3.0.3.80.
Obtaining the version of E-Prime Subject Station
Installation Media:
Inserting your E-Prime 3.0.3.9 or later USB flash drive auto runs and prompts for installing E-Prime 3.0 (design/full) or E-Prime 3.0 Subject Station. Inserting your E-Prime 2.0.10.242 or later CD auto runs and prompts for installing E-Prime 2.0 (design/full) or E-Prime 2.0 Subject Station. For legacy E-Prime 2.0.8.90 Subject Station, navigate into the E-Prime 2.0.8.90 Subject Station folder to begin the installation.
Download:
The Product Service and Support web site has download links to all of the editions/versions of E-Prime that you have registered. E-Prime 2.0.10.242 and later or 3.0 have a download link available for E-Prime which includes the Subject Station installation.
Running:
Running Experiments with multiple versions of E-Prime (Full Suite, Subject Station, and Run-Time) can be achieved by double clicking the .ebs3 or .ebs2 file. The experiment automatically begins if a matching version of the runtime exists on the machine. If not, the E-Run Resolver dialog allows for choosing a different runtime. We typically recommend using the direct matching version of an experiment when collecting data.
