analysis of RT (from sound in files)

Hi all,

i have a question about my analysis in an experiment. In the experiment: Students hear sounds (each sound has about 822 ms duration) and i record reaction time.

I try to analyse data with spss but i have no significant results. I thought maybe that i have to substract duration of the sound file from RT (RT-duration of wav file). But then i have some negative numbers: 

e.g. RT: 722ms 

duration of sound file: 822 ms 

So i get: -100.

Do you know how we analyse these RT? Can we have an analysis only with RTs or I should do something else (e.g. add to the RT prelease time and then substract duration of wav file?)? I haven't seen a paper sayins something about such an analysis.
