Image background not transparent

I'm trying to put a "not" sign over an image in EPrime. In the subproperties tab I set the image to have a transparent background, but the entire image window (both outside and within the shape) is coming up as black. I created the not sign image so that the space around/inside the object should be transparent.

Anyone know how I can fix this so that the background is truly transparent?
