Echo response time limit

Hi,

We are designing an experiment that includes an arithmetic task. Participants are given the task to count backwards in increments of 13 starting at 1022. For each subtraction, they have five seconds to type in the answer on the screen and the press enter. They do this task for as long as they can manage for two minutes.

We have set it up so participants can see what they are typing via echo using advanced properties in duration/input. Most of the setup works fine, but there is a problem. As soon as we start typing in the first character in an answer, there is only about 1s to type the next character. If the next character is not entered quicly enough, the incomplete answer is accepted and counted as an incorrect answer. We would like the participant to have the full five seconds to type their answer. We have tried turning Auto Response off. Any ideas on how to change this? Thanks in advance
