FirstFrameTime negative value

In the edat file for my experiment, the logged 'FirstFrameTime' from a MovieDisplay is sometimes negative, and the accompanying 'FrameRate' is sometimes 0 (sometimes both, not always). Does anyone here know more about what this means?
