Installing E-Prime Runtime or Subject Station in a custom path causes various issues with the installation.
The following issues occur:
The Control Panel Programs & Features applet shows the default path in the Location column instead of the custom installation path.
The eula.rtf file installs to the default install path regardless of what path is specified.
The Start Menu shortcuts break because they point to the default path instead of the custom installation path.
The default installation path for both E-Prime Runtime and Subject Station is C:\Program Files (x86)\PST\[program] where [program] is the name of the specific installation (i.e., E-Prime Runtime or E-Prime Subject Station). The issues above occur when changing the Destination Folder when installing the program.
Do not change the Destination Folder during installation. Instead, install to the default path.
If a custom installation path needs to be used, then please take note of where the program is installed to as the Control Panel listing is wrong. Additionally, be aware that the eula.rtf file is going to be installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\PST\[program].
Perform the following to fix the broken Start Menu shortcuts:
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\[program] where [program] is either E-Prime Runtime or E-Prime Subject Station.
- Right-click on the first application listed (i.e., Codec Config). Select "Properties" from the dropdown menu.
- Change the Target location to match the custom installation path. For example, if the program was installed on the Desktop, then the Target would be "C:\Users\[User Name]\Desktop" (where [User Name] is the name of the logged in user). Click OK to apply the changes.
- Repeat the steps above for the remaining programs: E-Run, Sound Tester, StartupInfo Editor.
NOTE: Administrative privileges is needed to change the Target path from the application Properties menu.
