The E-Prime 2.0 installer throws the following error if HASP driver version 8.31 is pre-installed:
The installation of HASP driver version 8.31 causes an error that blocks subsequent E-Prime 2.0 installation attempts. We usually recommend you stay up to date with the latest HASP driver to troubleshoot license violations, or to prevent a BSOD before you install E-Prime 2.0 SP2 on Windows 10 2004 or later (ERROR: HASP driver issues on Windows 10 (version 2004, 20H2, 21H1, 21H2) and 11 ).
After E-Prime 2.0 installation is complete, you can update to HASP driver version 8.31.
NOTE: If you are on a version of Windows prior to Windows 10 2004 and do not have any license violation warnings on a current E-Prime 2.0 installation, then you do not need to install a more recent HASP driver prior to any E-Prime 2.0 installation.
The following workarounds are possible:
Upgrade to E-Prime 3.0. This issue does not occur on E-Prime 3.0. To upgrade your experiments, see RELEASE INFO: Upgrading Experiments to E-Prime 3.0 .
Uninstall HASP driver version 8.31, install an earlier version of the HASP driver that is at least version 7.103, install E-Prime 2.0, and then optionally install HASP driver version 8.31 afterwards. The same HASPUserSetup.exe from the 8.31 version gives you an option to Remove when you run it again. The installation package for HASP driver version 8.23 is attached to the bottom of this article.
Optionally, you may refrain from upgrading your machine to Windows 10 2004 or later. Only these versions of Windows require a HASP driver version 7.103 or later to prevent a BSOD.
