Investigates whether false memories will be generated at various speeds of presentation of lists of words.
In this experiment two blocks of word lists display. During each block memorize as many words as possible from an initial list of 70 words, then a one minute period passes during which participants count backwards. Finally a shorter list appears with 26 words. Press "1" if the word appeared in the first word list, press "2" if it did not appear. The duration of each word is 20 milliseconds for the initial list of words in the first block. In the second block, each word displays for 1500 milliseconds.
