Occasionally movie playback difficulty occurs with DivX (TM) codec.
PST generally recommends the use of the DivX (TM) codec available from http://divx.com.
Testing in the PST Software Research and Development Lab has shown that some difficulty can arise on some machine configurations.
When these difficulties occur, it is recommended to use a different codec which can be chosen via Codec Config.
A suggested alternative would be the Haali Media Splitter for demuxing and the ffdshow Video Renderer for decoding.
The DivX (TM) codec as of Jan 2012 will cause the File Source (Async) and AVI Splitter codecs to disallow rendering of divx/xvid type files. Removing the divx.com codec enables their usage.
The Haali Media Splitter is installed with the K Lite Mega Codec Pack.
These difficulties apply to files that require the divx, xvid, and H.264 decompression.
This workaround is intended only for those who are unable to update to the version of E-Prime that contains the fix:
- Use another file format.
- Use Codec Config to avoid the DivX Demux or DivX decoder.
- Use Codec Config Skip Audio option when applicable.
