What is a .rwksp file?
BrainVision Recorder uses a Workspace to save user defined settings such as file locations, amplifier parameters, cap configurations, and electrode positions. The Recorder application includes a wizard that enables the Workspace to be configured and then saved. The file extension given to a Workspace file is ".rwksp." While multiple Workspaces can be created, BrainVision Recorder only permits one Workspace to be loaded at a time.
For more information on the Workspace in BrainVision Recorder, please review the "Workspace" chapter in the Recorder.pdf file installed with BrainVision Recorder.
Using a .rwksp File in your Experiments
E-Prime Extensions for Brain Products enables the .rwksp file to be loaded remotely (i.e., from the E-Prime experiment). Every E-Prime Extensions for Brain Products-enabled experiment must include the PackageCall "BPInit". This PackageCall initializes the system for use with Brain Products and establishes a connection to the Recorder application.
The third parameter of the BPInit routine, "strWorkspace," specifies the name of the Workspace to be loaded remotely in Recorder. The BPInit routine’s default value for this parameter is a placeholder value, “<filename>.rwksp”. "<filename>" needs to be replaced with the name of the Workspace file you wish to load. Workspace files can be loaded by specifying the full path on the remote machine (e.g., C:/Documents/MyWorkspaces/Example.rwksp). If the full path is not specified, the default folder for Workspace files is used (i.e., C:/Vision/Workfiles).
For example, to load Brain Product's Standard Workspace file in the default Workspace files folder, the strWorkspace parameter should be changed from the placeholder value of "<filename>.rwksp” to “Standard Workspace.rwksp”.
Selecting an Amplifier
Before running a Brain Products-enabled experiment for the first time, users must select an amplifier in BrainVision Recorder. If an amplifier is not selected, a runtime error is generated when the experiment is run in E-Prime. Upon opening BrainVision Recorder for the first time, the dialog in the image below appears. Users need to select the appropriate amplifier using the dropdown arrows.
For more information on selecting an amplifier for the first time, please review the "Start Recorder for the first time" section in the Recorder.pdf file installed with BrainVision Recorder.
