The IP Address in Remote Control Server
Remote Control Server (RCS) is a required application for E-Prime Extension for Brain Products. It allows E-Prime to communicate with BrainVision Recorder. RCS specifies both the IP address (or DNS) and Port number of the machine that is running the Brain Products software (i.e., the machine that E-Prime is communicating with):
In the image above, 172.16.2.88 is the IP address of the machine that has BrainVision Recorder and Remote Control Server on it.
To change the IP address, click the Disconnect button to cease communication in RCS. Then, dropdown the File menu and edit the TCP/IP settings. Click Save and Close when you are finished.
The IP Address in E-Studio
The IP address for the remote computer that is running the RCS and BrainVision Recorder software is also required by the PackageCall BPInit. This call must be included in any E-Prime Extensions for Brain Products-enabled experiment. The fourth parameter of the routine, strSocketCommParam, specifies the IP Address (or DNS) of the Brain Products computer.
In the image below, 172.16.2.88 is specified for the strSocketCommParams parameter. Also, if no port value is specified (as is the case in the image), the value of 6700 is used.
Finding the IP Address
If you need to find the IP address of the remote machine, perform the following steps:
- On the remote machine, Search for the application Run.
- In Run, type cmd.
- Type ipconfig and press Enter.
After you press Enter, view the listings under "Ethernet adapter Ethernet." The listing for IPv4 address is the machine's IP address that needs to be specified in both Remote Control Sever and E-Prime's PackageCall BPInit.
