Dear E-Prime users,
This seems to be a fairly simple requirement but I can't find any obvious way to achieve it. I have also sent a request to E-Prime technical support.
I am putting together a number of vigilance experiments in which a target stimuli is shown after a variable delay of 3, 6, or 9 seconds.
My trial procedure consists of a 2 image displays, first a fixation (of variable duration) and then a target stimuli, which is to be displayed for 300 ms. However, some responses are missed, because the target stimuli display is so short.
Question:
Is it possible to display a bitmap for x amount of time but to keep the object open for responses for y amount longer? In this example I would like to display the bitmap for 300 ms but to keep the object open for responses for 500 ms. I wondered if this were possible using a slide object instead of a text object but I can't see any way to vary the duration of images and the whole object.
The only way round this I can think of is to add a second text object for 200 ms but this will make the data analysis quite complicated and just doesn't seem to be a very elegant solution.
I'd be most grateful for any suggestions and can provide more detail if required.
Thanks for reading!

| Yes, please view the TimeLimit property of an object and the NestingXRT or any sample related to "extended input" -Brandon

Thanks, Brandon.
I meant to update this thread last week in case it is helpful to anyone else browsing the forum.
I was directed to the following sample by one of the PST technical support team and the technique demonstrated works a treat.
I set the duration of the image display to 300 ms but the time limit to 500 ms and set the end action to be a label jump. Then I added another image display object ("waitmore") with a duration of 200 ms but no allowable input and added the label to directly after the stimulus display image object and before the "waitmore" object.
Thanks again to Matt and Brandon.
