OS: Win 7 Ultimate
Recently my E-DataAid or E-Merge both have trouble starting up.
When either one is called, an error box displaying:
"The Application failed to start because the side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."
pops up.
So far, I've found out that this message is known to occur with other programs as well and the error has something to do with the installation of Micosoft's VC++ redistributables, but after (re-)installing all of them, I still seem to have these problems.
Re-installing the entire E-prime suite did not work either.
Does anybody have a clue how to solve this?
Thanks in advance

Found out the solution myself: Seems that E-Prime uses an older version of the Visual C++ libraries that are standardly distributed by Microsoft these days.
So the above problem can be solved by installing versions 8.0.50727.4053 of the 2005 VC++ redist.
Although installing this older version solved my problem, I think it's a bad practice to make a program like E-prime depend so heavily on deprecated and unsupported VC++ libs, and I hope they will develop an update to make it work with the newer versions as well
