How do I use this? No matter where I place it it won't work. I'm using E-prime 2.0.8.22 and it's a professional file.

c.setattrib "DataFile.Filename.Override", "arghhhhhhhhh" & c.getattrib("Experiment")

PST staff has reminded me that "the PST Web Support site is PST's primary means of support for E-Prime users" and "users are instructed to contact the support site first with any questions they may have" (my emphasis), with a promise of 24-48 hour response times to all requests. You should post questions directly at http://support.pstnet.com/e%2Dprime/support/login.asp instead of here.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that etiquette around these forums, since I'm new.

The solution to this question involves using the (new to me) package editor. Before the "DataFile.Filename.Override" is checked in the main() routine in the e-prime generated script it calls a variety of subroutines which can be loaded with PackageFile Editor. The appropriate place to put the code is in the InitGlobals section of the Package you are creating:

c.setattrib "DataFile.Filename.Override", "blah"

notice you don't need an extension because E-prime'll tack it on. In order to add a package to an experiment it must reside in the directory in your "...E-prime 2.0/Program/Packages" directory. I posted the solution because I noticed a couple of other people have asked the same question.

Thanks again,
Andrew

Thank you for posting this solution. It answered one of those nagging questions that appear when one is browsing the read-only script and looking for customizations.
