When connecting an SRBox to a computer, the lights on the box start flashing randomly, and if you run an E-prime script, an error occurs:
Runtime Error (Line 311) An error occurred while attempting to open the device
Device Name SRBOX
Error: 0x00002329
Message: Unable to open the SRBOX
Last Error: 0x00000000
Category: 0x00000066
Status: 0xc0000022
Extended: 0x0000000
In all the cases that this has occurred, the computers have been running Windows XP Pro SP3, .Net v3.5. I've tried reverting to .Net v2.0, with no better result.
The COM1 settings have been confirmed in all cases to match the E-prime settings (and the symptoms occur immediately the device is connected, before E-prime is running).
This has occurred on 3 separate machines - an HP D530 CMT, a Dell Optiplex 745 and a Dell Latitude D630.
With the Dell Latitude I was able to try a series of rollbacks - uninstalling the port drivers, the srbox driver, the E-prime program, but the only thing that worked was to use system restore to return the machine to a pre-E-prime configuration, however the restoration was only temporary. This laptop was disconnected from any network to prevent any Windows updates causing an issue.
The systems variously used McAfee, Kaspersky or, to eliminate them as a cause, no anti-virus software. No other security software is installed.
I've examined the system logs on the machine to see if any system events occurred after the rollback, but before the errors occurred, that were consistent (the system restore function having been used 4 times) in all occasions, but have not been able to find anything.
If anyone has any bright ideas, I'd be very grateful
