Hi all,

I use E-prime in a parallel desktop on a Mac. Whenever I try to escape from a running experiment window using Ctrl + Alt + Shift, Screen goes in coherence mode and does not take any response from mouse. Consequently, I have to shut down the machine. Has anyone encountered this or if anyone can give a suggestion?

I have had a similar problem on a PC, only since re-installing E-Prime 2 after having my computer re-imaged due to a MalWare problem.  The solution that works for me is to start up the task manager (control-alt-delete).  This brings forward the dialog box saying "Do you want to abort the program?" and I can click yes and continue.  I don't know if this solution, or something similar, can work on your OS, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Can anyone offer a more global solution?

Found a Knowledge Base entry that relates to this issue.

3272 - BUGFIX: Ctrl+Alt+Shift SystemAbortWatch Prompt does not appear under Windows Vista

see http://www.pstnet.com/e-prime/support/kb.asp?TopicID=3272

Basic gist: don't maximize the E-Studio or else use E-Run to run the program.

Better yet, do not run E-Prime experiments under Vista. If you do a search on the Forum or the E-Prime list archive with the term "Vista", you will get many reports on the problems of running E-Prime under Vista. Stick with XP.

I know this is a really old thread, but just wanted to give a quick update.  I am using Windows 7 now and I still have the same problem.  It's not limited to Windows Vista.

The root cause of this issue appears to be having E-Studio maximized (in Windows Vista or Windows 7).  The most current editions of E-Prime (as of this writing 2.0.8.90 and 2.0.10.182) will detect if E-Studio is maximized and the restore it before showing the yes/no prompt.

If you have this issue when E-Studio is not maximized or are using E-Prime 2.0.8.90 or later and this issue happens, then please reply here and moreover in the user comments section of KB3272 - BUGFIX: Ctrl+Alt+Shift SystemAbortWatch Prompt does not appear under Windows Vista
