Hi everyone,
I was happily creating my first e-prime experiment, and going quite well, when I starting having a very odd problem.
I am creating an experiment which displays some text instructions, then has a block of practice trials (always the same so the list is embedded), then some experimental trials (list from file), and then a final end text. Each trial consists of a central fixation point (text) followed by two "screens" (the practice trials also include feedback). Each screen contains an image and two "+" located so as to remind the subject whether they are looking at the top or the bottom of the picture.
Everything seemed to be working fine, but then I realised I needed to add some more to the initial instructions text. Once I had done this the text didn't fit on the screen anymore (some of it was missing from top and bottom), so I decided to reduce the font size from 18 to 14 to make it fit.
After making this change the experiment developed the strange feature that there is a black bar down the right-hand side of the display. This occurred for every frame in the experiment. The image is still presented in the centre of the screen (real centre, not the including the black bar), but the "+" on each side is presented relative to the white display area (the one on the left is 3cm from the edge of the screen, the one on the right is 3 cm from the black bar!). This positioning is probably due to the exact settings I have used and really doesn't matter too much. More to the point, I can't seem to centre the display.
Even more strange this display-area off-set now affects earlier versions of my script that did not previously have a problem, BUT it does not effect a completely different script (which starts with an image instead of text, I don't know if that matters). Re-starting the program and the computer do not fix the problem.
I have looked at the scripts to see whether I have changed anything anywhere that would lead to this off-setting problem and I can't find anything. ANY suggestions would be appreciated!!
Thanks!

A friend suggested to me that I may not have set the screen resolution under Edit > Experiment > Device. Setting this correctly fixed the strange off-set problem (although I then had to move a few things).
I'm not sure why the off-set wasn't obvious from the beginning if this were really the problem, but there you are!
