Dear users,

I'm having trouble playing mono audio files in e-prime; mono files are played at twice the original speed. Maybe e-prime lacks a mono/stereo check and will play mono files in stereo, resulting in half the original signal in each of the two channels, which results in twice the original speed?

Thanks for your comment,

Jurriaan Witteman.

Have you tried adjusting the device sample rate?

Hello 'RedTurtle',

Thanks for your response. Yes, I have; doesn't solve the problem. I think this is a bug in e-prime; the program assumes sounds are stereo, which in case of a mono sound leads to splicing of half of the signal to each channel, accelerating it *2.

Best,

Jurriaan.

The sound files included with the SoundRT experiment are mono.  Do these play fine for you?  In general, the samples per second would more likely effect the speed of the files.  If you feel you are still having trouble, please attach a sample .wav file that replicates this issue here or in web support.

Thanks for your response. The SoundRT experiment works, but when I include my stimuli they only play at the right pace when converted to 44kHz stereo. There is probably something peculiar to my stimuli but I can't find out what that is.

I've attached a modified versus of the sample experiment with one of my stimuli files; both at 22 and 44 kHz in stereo and mono; maybe you can find out what the problem is.

Thanks in advance,

Jurriaan.
