Hello,
in an initial experiment we used subliminal priming.
We used a lcd monitor with 60 Hz.
The trial procedure was:
1.) Inline to preload the image and the mask
2.) Fixation for constantly 2000 ms
3.) Prime was set to:
- Duration: 20 ms
- Prerelease: 3 ms
4.) Mask
The Pattern of the timings was curiously like this:
Prime.OnsetTime Prime.OffsetTime Prime.DurationError Mask.OnsetDelay Mask.OnsetTime
5148012 5148029 0 7 5148039
5150704 5150721 0 7 5150731
5153357 5153374 0 6 5153383
5155983 5156000 0 6 5156009
So from Prime.OnsetTime to Mask.OnsetTime it is always about 27 ms (not a multiple of 17 ms).
Now I wanted to repeat this experiment but could not manage the timing outcomes like in the examples I copied above.
In different tests I only have outcomes where Onset to Onset is a multiple of 17 ms - but I need the Onset to Onset of 27 ms again...

I will be very interested to see what others have to say about this, since this is odd. The first thing I would do is double-check the refresh rate from the earlier sessions. Recall that the the refresh rate reported by Windows can differ from the refresh rate used by E-Prime, for that you want to look at the .edat file and the column Display.RefreshRate. A refresh rate of 74 Hz could give you onset-onsets in multiples of 13.5 (e.g, 27 ms). If the actual refresh rate changed from 74 Hz to 60 Hz then that would explain things.

| that was it! We have a complete new laboratory - and the Display.RefreshRate in the old experiments was at 75 Hz! thank you, Johann
