I use the echo function to print text on screen, which works perfectly.

However, I'm using a Swiss keyboard (which is different from the default US one).
Is there any possibility to change the keyboard type ?

I'm using E-Prime 1.2.

thanks

I have the same problem as I am also using a foreign keyboard. Did this get any solution or does anyone know where/what to change so that another keyboard than the English is used?

Thanks in advance

Maybe I should clarify the problem a bit/give more information...

Within the experiment the respondents should type their response on the screen (I use the echo function). All works well except that the keyboard layout is changed to US English whenever I run the experimental script, so that when the respondent types the last 3 letters in the Swedish alphabet, it instead types what is under these buttons on a US keyboard.

I use E-prime 2.0 professional (Release Candidate)
System: Win XP pro
Keyboard layout: Swedish

Is there a simple solution to this which I missed or can I add some simple code as an inline to set the keyboard right?

Thanks again

Fredrik,

I wonder if this has anything to do with E-Prime reading raw keybaord scan codes from the keyboard instead of finished ASCII sequences? I had a similar problem a couple years ago just using an ordinary US English keyboard on one system with an old version of EP1. I wanted to use a "^" character for a response (this was the default trigger character for a PST BrainLogics BRS). Now, to make a "^" character, you press the SHIFT key along with the 6 key, and that system would interpret that as, well, a SHIFT followed by a 6. No way could I get it to see a "^" from the keyboard, nor would it see several other shifted characters. (My solution in this case was to modify the BRS to send a nice unshifted "/" for the trigger.) This is exactly what you could expect if EP collected raw individual keyboard scan codes instead of the processed characters.

I am very interested to see what PST staff have to say about this.

Unfortunately, support for the echo client output for keyboard will remain as a US/Western keyboard for E-Prime 2.0 at least for the short term future.  Support for different locales and the ability for Right-To-Left output will be required to remain for an update in the future.

As per the ^ character, this does require the use of the SHIFT key to type/view, but does appear in EP2 and shoudl appear for most later versions of E-Prime 1.2.
