I'm trying to design a pretty straightforward experiment with a set of simple primes and yes/no response (randomised set of trials over 20 minute period) - however, whilst the trial is underway, we also wish to capture a simple 'press the space bar at anytime during this whole trial' to see if people will remember to do that with or without visual/audio cues...

So at some random time during any trialproc, as a one-off, we want to start an audio wav and capture an additional response (simply 'hit the space bar' or 'didn't hit the space bar')...

Is there an easy way of adding this extra task, to occur exactly once during the whole experiment? If anyone can point to any similar examples anywhere, that would be useful?

I have attached a sample that may work out for your paradigm.  This is not a one size fits all solution, but it has been designed so that if it does fit, the emphasis can be placed on the design of the paradigm instead of the technical hurdles to overcome.

Please take a look at the sample and review it.  It can be morphed to fit your paradigm, but due to the nature of this example coupled with it not being an official sample on the E-Prime Web Support site yet, the amount of support they I/we can provide may be very limited. 

I'd be happy to discuss with anyone about the nature of this example and how/why it does what it does.  In addition, I can guide anyone on how it might fit their paradigm from an initial stepping stone level.

I tried downloading the attachment, unzipping it and get the following error after Beta 2.0 prompts to convert it to the 2.0 format:

"Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\PST\E-Prime 2.0\Program\E-Studio.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
