| I have installed E-Prime on my laptop using XP and I get the following error message: 'a fatal error occurred while generating the initialization code for the e object named instructions. Unable to find display device. Ensure that a display device is available' I am hoping to use this program through the Open University. I have been trying to resolve this problem via the OU helpdesk and forum but no success. The OU have referred me to yourselves as they say this may be a problem with my laptop configuration. Please help Thanks, Trev

| This problem sounds like an installation error. Can you confirm each of the following? 1) Can you open/run any of the sample experiments (BasicRT, etc) 2) If you open the experiment object (double click it) and then go to Devices, does Display show up? If it does not, when you click the Add button, does Display appear there? If the answer to the latter is no, then reinstall E-Prime. -Brandon

| Thanks Brandon, No I can't. I get the following error message now: 'Device type not found - The experiment file being loaded contains 1 or more devices of the type keyboard that cannot be found on your system etc...' Looks like I have a general issues with devices - Keybord & Display device errors have both occurred now. If I uninstall & re-install will it affect my user login & registration that I already have for E-prime? Thanks for your help, Trev

| No, this will not affect your registration as you are permitted to perform that again. I responded to your other thread, but here are some more items to attempt besides a full uninstall/reinstall. 1) In Add/Remove in Control Panel, perform a repair on your E-Prime installation. 2) Navigate to C:\Program Files\PST\E-Prime\Program\Devices, in that folder you should see 1/2 dozen files specifically DisplayDevice.dll and KeyboardDevice.dll should be there. -Brandon
