I read in the FAQ of eprime 2.0 that it is possible to 'Support for presentation of stimuli on multiple video displays'
So, if I understand, it is possible to display simultaneously various images in differents monitor?
If yes, how I proceed? There is a difference between normal and Professional versions?
Thanks
A

Hello,

Running multiply displays can be accomplished by:

1) Adding a second DisplayDevice to your experiment and updating it's display index.
2) Setting the DisplayName property of your visual stimuli.

PST will be posting more verbose samples that better illustrate these techniques in the coming weeks.

Where is the additional information? I need more information about this myself, and have not been able to find anything on the web site or in the manuals.

Does the "index" determine the default display used for displaying the experiment in the "Standard" (non-Professional) version of 2.0. Is this what is referred to in item 8 of the advertised list of new features for 2.0:
"Support for presentation of stimuli on multiple video displays"

What additional features, related to using multiple displays, are available in the professional version.

Thanks.

In E-Prime 2.0 (standard) you can choose which monitor the experiment will display.  The Display Index relates to the display id that Windows recognizes the montors as.  In E-Prime 2.0 Professional, a DisplayName property is available to determine which display each object draws itself on.  If you have E-Prime 2.0 (Pro) installed, check out the MultipleDisplayRT experiment for more info.

Thanks for the help. I found the reference to this feature in the "Whats new" docs. I had a couple of postdocs try this out where we need to use it, on our fMRI system. When ePrime (standard edition) was set to use the secondary monitor (index 2), then ePrime displayed a message to "wait for initialization," but the program seemed to get stuck there and still did continue even after waiting +5 minutes. After setting the monitor index back to 1, the program started right up. Unfortunately, I do not have any more details about this right now (ie, the exact dialog message or the display card model), but it looks like we might have a compatibility problem. Anyone have any ideas about what I should try to diagnose the problem and/or work around it?

Thanks again.

Besides making sure using latest E-Prime (2.0.8.22 as of this writing) and that monitor/adapter in question have an updated driver and using a resolution that the monitor can handle not much to add at this time.  When the experiment hangs, try pressing the ESC, space, and ENTER keys to see if it continues.  Sometimes a dialog can get lost behind the main screen when a device is initializing.
