Hello everyone, I am a novice to E-Prime. I guess my problem should be not so hard to solve.

I want to present pictures combined with a startle sound at different SOAS while viewing the picture and randomize the SOA of the startle and the appearance of the pictures. How can I do that?

Thank you.

I am struggling with the exact same problem, and up till now haven't found a solution. So I'm very curious with what the experts come up with!

Hello,

The easiest way to implement this in E-Prime is to have an ImageDisplay/Slide object present only the image, and have a SoundOut object follow the ImageDisplay/Slide and present the sound. The Slide object's Duration property would be set to however long you want to delay before the sound is presented. The TimeLimit property for the Slide should be set to however long you want the subject to be able to respond (if they will be responding). If you want to vary the delay between the image and sound, I would recommend taking a look at the sample attached to this reply. This sample demonstrates two different methods for implementing a variable ITI. You can use the same method to vary the delay from trial to trial.

Please let me know if you have any questions after taking a look at the sample.
