Hello,

I am designing an experiment and I am having trouble trying to source script for an SRBoxDevice input. My experiment requires that Eprime records the time taken for a participant to begin speaking once a stimulus has been presented to them. Does anyone how I should do this, which objects I need to use and are there any available samples scripts used for recorded sound through a mic and a button box?

Also, I need to record the content of what is said, yet I do not know whether this is outside the scope of Eprime?

Thanks, Rhiannon

Hi, Rhiannon -

You've probably settled this already, since you posted your question a while ago, but I figured it's worth responding so that someone else coming here with a similar question might benefit.  And if you've resolved it some other way, please post back here and let me know!

We collect voice reaction time data using an accelerometer mounted on a neck collar, so it serves as a throat mic.  You could also just use a regular acoustic mic (there are pros and cons to both approaches).  Either way, the mic goes through a pre-amp to amplify the signal, and the pre-amp plugs into the mic jack on the back of the SRBox.  Then the SRBox is added as a response input device, and the acceptable response for the stimulus object is set to {any}, and the object is set to collect RT data.  No other special setup is needed.

As for collecting the content of the spoken responses, so far as I know that's outside the scope of EPrime; you just use your tape recording method of choice.

HTH.

JoAnn.
