I know (through my user info at E-Prime) that I have installed E-prime 1.2 on 3 machines (with the dongle) and I have downloaded E-prime beta 2.0 on two of these computers. However, sometimes when I start E-Prime beta 2.0 and it asks me to activate again (though I have done it before when I registered originally) it then gives me the maximum machine error.

If I try a couple of times (sometimes it takes as many as 5-10 tries after logging out of the computer), it works. But should it ask me to activate more than once under the same user login on the same computer and on the same beta version? It should only check for updates, not get activated every time, right?

Thanks
M

I have experienced a similar issue. I had to re-activate at least once on every computer in my lab (4). This meant re-registering for ep2 with a new email address (twice so far).

Thank you for the suggestion.  I was able to work around the activation error message by re-registering with a different email.  I guess I will have all my students eventually register so that we can keep our machines activated.

It would be nice if this weren't the way activation had to be handled, however.

My guess is that the activation is per account and not per machine. We installed E-Prime 2.0 Beta only on two machines. Having an Admin and an User account, all of our 5 installs disapeared very quick. (Even updating the beta and reactivating uses installs!)

If you are still having this problem, please create a web support ticket and they will be increased.  The number of activations has been increased from five to ten on every account recently.
