We have a situation where we need to run Pro (purchased 2 copies just for this) for an experiment with a collaborator (he uses Pro). However, we have a site license for 2.0 Standard. It's very inconvenient that we have no choice in the Pro install but to uninstall Standard first. Is there any way around this - any way to keep Standard on the machine while installing Pro for a couple of weeks for this one project?
Thanks,
Richard

| While you can install more than one major version of E-Prime on one machine (i.e. 1.x and 2.x), there is no ability to install E-Prime 2.0 (standard) and E-Prime 2.0 (Professional) on the same machine. Under the situation you desribed, I would install Pro on the machine(s) in which you need to collaborate with labs that have Pro and then uninstall/reinstall when the collaboration is completed if required. Note that while you have Pro installed, you can open/edit/save/run experiments that were saved in the E-Prime 2.0 (standard) file format. By default, E-Studio will prompt to choose to maintain or convert the files upon load. If the E-Prime 2.0 (standard) file format is maintained, then you can share those files with the other E-Prime 2.0 (standard) site license machines that you have. -Brandon

To add to Brandon's comments, you can also create brand new EP2 Standard programs in Pro. Just start with any Standard program (make sure during the Conversion Prompt to select "Maintain the E-Prime 2.0 file format"), delete what you don't need, and start from there. This gets even easier if you take advantage of the Templates feature (don't know if this is still installed by default, I lost it last time I reinstalled EP2 and had to add it manually) -- make sure you have a Templates folder in Program Files\PST\E-Prime 2.0, and put any .es2 files you like in there. After that, every time you start a new E-Studio file, you will get a prompt with all the .es2 files in Templates as a starting point. I have two template files, a blank one in Pro format, and another blank one in Standard format. I always start with the blank Standard one, and then anybody can use it with any edition of EP2.
So I advise you just install EP2 Pro and keep it, no need to go back & forth between Pro & Standard. Just do as above to create new programs in Standard format for compatibility with everyone else.
